The first Akanda remix competition took place in Febuary and featured a track called "Vunberbar" by long standing Cookshop recording artist Digital Midgets.



Burrowed away in his musical laboratory the Digital Midgets feverishly churns out his sampledelic beat-heavy creations at an intense rate.

His debut EP for Cookshop featured the anthemic "We Always Have Been" alongside two other quirksome melodious hed-nodders.

More recently he has featured on the Taster 2 EP and Sound Bites compilation CD, and has released music on UK Hip Hop/Beats label Aerosolik as well as appearing on the recent Coastism compilation with other Brighton stalwarts Mawglee, Flevans and Caged Baby.

His fast growing reputation for his innovative DJ mixes should also not be underestimated, search out his Noise Pollution mixes (as heard on Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel and Samurai FM) for further proof.

Digital Midgets’ second EP for Cookshop entitled "Delete The Frog" released on 6th March features remixes from Backini (Lumenessence) and Nylon Rhythm Machine (Catskills)



Cookshop began its foraging into the world of leftfield experimental beats back in 2002. Setup by recording artists/producers Lost Idol (Pork / Nature) and La Femme the vision for the label was an unrestrictive output for quality and diverse musical styles inspired by fierce independents such as Pork, Ninja Tune, Memphis Industries and Warp.

Following a much needed relocation out of London town’s bustle and grime Cookshop headed south to the coastal town of Brighton and have since flourished adding artists Jonathan Krisp, Digital Midgets and Outerlectuals to its permanent artist rota.

Additionally, Lost Idol and La Femme host their weekly radio show Morning Glory every Sunday on Brighton’s Juice 107.2FM and online at cookshopmusic.co.uk championing the weird, the wonderful, and most definitely the wonkier side of the groove.
